So, I want to explain for a moment the title of my blogspot.
Jeff and I are currently and jointly reading Sigurd Olsen's "Runes Of The North", and are in love with the writing. In thinking of a name for my blog, I glanced down at the floor and the book and its title caught my eye. I was curious about the word "rune". My concept of its meaning was rather vague, reflecting on an old Indiana Jones movie, thinking that it was rune stones, magical rune stones that Indie was after. Anyway, I liked the word and looked it up. In the Norse tradition it may refer to a song or poem, a symbol or character in an ancient alphabet - its contemporary meaning being magical or mythical. Sure makes sense in the context of Sigurd's book tracing his canoe trips through the great north west.
Anyway, I said to Jeff, "it should be something easy to remember, and I like that word".
Jeff said, "how 'bout tunes and runes?".
And there ya have it!

Ahh, it was a success in getting the video on here!  What fun!  So, I hope to be putting more "music videos" up in the future, they sure can capture a moment in time.  However,I cannot help myself but to make a few remarks about this video.  A "set-up", if you will...

As most know we frequently play a little music with a variety of friends and characters, and most often in those cases we do "songs". I usually sing and strum chords on the mandolin, and so on, but sometimes when Jeff and I are just sitting around the house, in this case, enjoying a glass of port, we like to just make stuff up. :) I would never subject such an unknown on a bar full of people, but in your own living room it's the most fun.  Jeff just picks out a few chords and makes up a rhythm, I listen for a second, and just start pickin' something.  Just making stuff up as we go.  So, we recorded one of those occasions just for fun the other night, got a kick out of watching it, and thought maybe we could post it?  Cool.  We decided to call the "song" dance lesson because there was some dancing around the wood stove that night too, either before or after the impromptu recording, I don't recall.

Since my intended blog lookers are friends and family, there's no need for introductions here.  And for those of you who have done this, then, you understand that creating a blog is weird.  However, I admit to being bad at "staying in touch" and keeping people "up to date", etc. , and that some loved ones may find themselves wondering at times if I am still alive.  At the very least, vaguely curious as what the heck I am up to besides about 5'2".  Well, here is a great way to find out, and it is my wish that this space be used for entertainment purposes.  In addition, I am expecting that this may reflect my own life back to me - nice, neat, and formatted, and upon discovering inevitably that my own story can be a boring read... decide to really do something interesting, just so y' all will stay tuned.  Anyway, I apologize in advance for any midnight rambles that may appear here in the future.
